hope the following answers to some of the most commonly asked questions
will give you the basic information you need when talking with us to plan
your website.
I know my
business should have a website, but what will I need?
We can
advise you on the most appropriate kind of website for you or your
business, as we have years of marketing experience to help guide you to
the best web solutions.
What is a domain
name and why do I need one?
A domain
name is usually the name of your company, such as www.yourcompany.ca. It
is an excellent way for customers or contacts to remember your name when
they wish to visit your website.
Can you help me
find a domain name?
Yes, we
can. Once we are hired to do your website we will help you with
suggestions, and research the availability of the domain name you have
selected. We will also finalize the purchase for you.
Why do I need
domain hosting? Aren't domain names and domain hosting the same?
No, the
domain name is the name of your site; then you also need somewhere to
place the files so that the World Wide Web can access it. This is called
your domain host. Domain hosting is usually supplied for an annual fee through
Doteasy Technology Inc.
Can I have my
website hosted through another company?
Yes.
Creative Edge recommends Doteasy for affordable basic web hosting; however, you can
choose to go to another service provider if you prefer. If you decide on
another domain hosting service, we will require the username and password
in order to upload your files to your website.
How much does a
website cost?
Website
costs depend on the complexity, the number of pages, and the amount of
work required. You can view our rates page for package prices or if you'd
like a custom quote, please
email us a
description of your project and we’ll be happy to provide you with a
quote. Generally, we ask for a 50% deposit to begin your web project.
Do you write the
text for me?
As you are the
most knowledgeable person about your company’s products or services, we
usually ask our clients to supply the text. But certainly, we can take
down the information and write the content for you, for an additional fee
of $35 per hour.
Where do the
pictures come from?
Many of
our clients have photographs that they want us to use. The better the
quality of the photographs the more professional the site looks, and as
the Internet is such a graphic medium, we want to use the best images
possible. Alternatively, we use stock photos from iStock.com for an
additional fee.
What colours will
you use?
Once we
have been hired to build your website, we will discuss your likes and
dislikes, in order to get a feel for you and your business. We have years
of design experience, and will work with you on an appropriate colour
palette.
How long will it
take?
The minimum
turnaround is one week from the time all of the information (eg. photos,
text) is received, however this can vary depending on the number of
projects we have in hand for completion. If your project is urgent, we
will do our best to achieve your deadline. |
